Few days before this year’s Day of the Dead, it seems that entire Mexico is preparing for this day. Unlike any other country I have been before this day not only seems to be one of the most important holiday of the year but it looks like we will witness an extremely joyful event.
While its the day where the living remember their departed relatives the whole festival is celebrating life itself. Believing that death is only a passage towards other life we see colorful flowers everywhere and figures of death, artistic skeletons in supermarkets and shops around the corner. About 2 weeks back we passed this undertaker about one hour outside of Mexico City and we had to smile about the slightly macabre way of decorating the front window. It’s definitely a very different way of dealing with death than we are used at home. And we like it.
